Note on marginalia
The lines intermittently appearing in the margins of these pages mix-up the words of Bartleby, the Scrivener with those of the essays of this book. The words, gathered together and split apart, were resequenced with an n-gram natural language generation script. Aleatoric interruptions of blank space—a capacity not to speak—
unstructure the columns. Only this automatism can make an unknowing
aside to that argument alongside it, and only it asserts an opening, at the margins of sense, for the invisible repetitions of typography to speak.
